The upcoming practises and info for band fiesta!!

Hey everyone!!
Hows the exams going??
No worries, everything is going to be fine!! =D
Anw u all might have heard that there will not be any band practises for the first 2 weeks but prac will
resume by WEEK 3!!
Here are the practise days:
1) 13th July 5.30pm-9pm
2) 14th July 5.30pm-9pm
3) 15th July 5.30pm-9pm
4) 17th July 5.30pm-9pm
5) 18th July 9am-12pm
Prac will resume as per normal for the subsq weeks:
Wed , 2.30pm-6pm
Fri, 5.30pm-9pm
Here are also some info for BAND FISTA!!
Ensure that u have:
1)Black Long sleeve shirt
2)Black Long pants for both girls and boys
3) Black court shoes

DSA auditions

Dear sec4s,
those who are going to DSA to MJC, please note that the DSA audition on Saturday, 13th June 2009 is CANCELLED
due to the maintenance that the school will be undergoing on that day.

However the other DSA dates are still intact that is
29th June 2009 (Monday) 6pm-9pm
2nd July 2009 (Thurday) 6pm-9pm
6th July 2009 (Monday) 6pm-9pm
9th July 2009 (Thurday) 6pm-9pm


Please bring along your own instrument and the documents that are needed for the auditions.
Please also download the application form for DSA auditions from MJC website(www.mjc.moe.edu.sg/) under Direct School Admission. The details are given in the form.

Good luck for your auditions. We look forward to your participation. =)

TO our DEAR JC2s

For the current JC2 seniors, here are some words by Mr Wong:

"To my dearest JC2's of 2009

It seemed like yesterday when I first met some of you during DSA auditions. You still looked very pure and innocent. Time will prove that looks are deceiving ;)

Our first and major mission was the 2nd NBC in July 2008. You worked your hearts out and brought MJCSB to greater heights (not forgetting our alumni), and went through "Hell month" of July 2008. Every Sunday was for the band (actually, almost every day), for NBC, for honour bands, for botanical gardens band fiesta.... and for your good friends from Meiden High School.

What a way to end the month.

You received your counterparts with so much warmth and kindness that it just seemed like you had been friends since the beginning of time; and when it was time to split, we knew it was only for a while. The two bands will come together again in December, for Meiden.Meridian.Moichido! Part 3. The exchange bridged the ties between bandsmen of different languages, but of the same passion in making music. Up till now I still have COSMOS ringing in my head every now and then.

The band came closer than ever in Japan. Remember the daily walk was long and cold but we never felt tired. Then there was me scolding you to stop cam-whoring and keep in line; Ms Ong screaming at you to stick to bath timings; Ms Tan chasing you for money; and Ms Gan always ready to lend a hand.We had learnt so much from our friends in Meiden. We learnt to appreciate and be thankful for what we are given.

And compassion.

You cheered for your fellow bandsmen who were down. You hugged them. You cried with them. If there is ever one thing I can be proud of, this is it.

One of you asked me if I am proud of our band. This is what I have to say.
In one of my favorite shows, "Band of Brothers", a war veteran spoke of a conversation with his grandson.
"Grandpa, were you a hero in the war?"
"No," replied grandpa.
"But I served in a company of heroes."

My dearest JC2's of 2009, it has been my honour to have served you.
